Clinical Neuropsychology

I was told I have epilepsy.....
I was told I have ADHD.........
I was told I have dyslexia.....

But was not never told how to be successful in life

I am currently working and researching on a new approach that gives greater emphasis to people's strengths. Unfortunately, the current treatment approach of clinicians, parents, and the school system curriculum tends to give primary focus to deficits when treating developmental, academic, or other cognitive conditions. As a result, strengths are often overlooked and giving an emphasis to overall success is generally overlooked.

It is important to shift the focus of treatment for individuals with cognitive or academic deficits to also emphasize their strengths. By recognizing an individual's strengths, we can help them succeed in areas where they excel. Current interventions often only focus on deficits, which may not lead to the best outcomes for the individual. Revolutionizing treatment planning for individuals with certain conditions can increase their chances of success in life. By implementing effective behavioral and educational interventions that focus on cognitive and academic strengths rather than deficits, we can help individuals reach their full potential.

Those conflicted with certain conditions will have an increased degree of opportunity to be successful in life when treatment planning is reconceptualized. Again, the method implicates using effective behavioral and educational interventions that focus away from deficits to give more emphasis to cognitive and academic strengths. The implications that these changes will reflect will be positive and will directly impact the individual, society, and the economy, in a positive direction. It is believed that more will be achieved as more individuals may become much more engaged in wanting to learn, as opposed to feeling academically frustrated and discouraged. Furthermore, having academic success will lessen the economic burden of society as individuals will be able to obtain better careers. Lastly, the mental health of all societies will improve as there will be an increase in satisfaction through a sense of accomplishment.
